| Abstract Scepticism was my reaction when I first heard of virtual fashion designers working in Second Life. The next phase was educational inquisitiveness; could educational fashion product development concepts be simulated in a virtual setting? I was aware of the current emergence of 3D virtual reality being incorporated into the fashion product development process so my curiosity was peeked. The subsequent virtual educational research led me down a path of exciting discoveries relating to providing students with an ideal setting to gain experience with 3D conceptualization for simulating fashion product development and presentation. Experience with this initial virtual fashion project led to the realization that multiple educational aspects of fashion design, product development, presentation, marketing, and promotion can benefit from developing customized simulations in the virtual world. |
