John F. Beaver, Professor of Education, has been at Buffalo State College since 1988. He has a Ph. D. in Educational Technology and a M. A. in Curriculum & Instruction from Michigan State University in East Lansing. He spent 2001 as a Senior Fulbright Scholar working with the Faculty of Medical Sciences at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura in Sri Lanka. In 1996, Dr. Beaver was a Fulbright Scholar at Kenyatta University in Nairobi, Kenya. Prior to his years in higher education, Dr. Beaver taught for twelve years in international settings including Australia, Malaysia, The Netherlands, and Egypt. During those years, John taught elementary or middle school grades, and later served as computer coordinator K-12. Dr. Beaver is the author of seven texts and numerous articles on educational applications of technology and critical thinking. He is a frequent presenter and workshop facilitator at educational technology conferences around the world. He consults with schools and organizations to help educators infuse technology applications into their classrooms, to enhance their professional effectiveness through appropriate technology interventions, and to improve their students' critical thinking and problem solving skills.
