Solution to PS 4 #8
The inner mitochondrial membrane is impermeable to NADH. The
reducing equivalents are transferred across the mitochondrial membrane
indirectly. They are tranferred to oxaloacetate (which becomes labeled
with 3H) in the cytosol. Malate is then formed (labeled with
3H) which is transported into the matrix, and then mitochondrial NAD+ is
reduce to NADH.
