Solution to PS 1 #11

Yes, once the U2 snRNP binds at the branch site it will occlude the U5 snRNP from binding at the 3' splice site and interfere with spicing.  Also, the deletion will have  moved a large part of the pyrimidine stretch required for binding to the 3'splice site.  Both of these will prevent proper mRNA processing and the aberrent  RNA will not be properly translated.
