Solution to PS 5 #5

Glycogen and starch differ mainly in the degree of branching.  Both are a(1,4)  polymers of  a-glucose.  Both glycogen and amylopectin have a(1,6) branches while amylose does not have branches.  Starch is an energy storage molecule in plants while glycogen is used in animals for  short  term energy storage.
